Benton-Carroll-Salem School District has implemented a Remote Instruction Plan beginning Monday, March 16, 2020 to continue as high quality teaching and learning as possible. This Remote Instruction plan will continue through the end of the 2019-20 school year. Flexibility is key during this period. Be calm. Be well. Be kind.
Does the work of students during Remote Instruction Count?
Yes, the Remote Instruction school work that students are completing does count! According to HB 197, the teaching and learning taking place remotely (both online and paper based) will count, and will allow us to consider these days as “in-session” school days even though students are not reporting to a physical school building. Therefore, the district is not anticipating making up school days in the summer.
Mental Health and Well Being
These are challenging times for adults, and more so for young people. If you think your child can benefit from talking to a counselor, please do not hesitate to call your child's school on March 30 or after. I also want to remind you of the Crisis Text Line:
Text HOME to 741741 from anywhere in the United States, anytime, about any type of crisis.
One suggestion for our overall mental health is for us to all get outside and walk, or do some kind of physical activity (while practicing social distancing). Something as simple as a walk can do wonders for the mood and help with anxiety.
The latest news and information will be sent via emails and will be posted to the front page of the district website, www.bcssd.com. You can also follow the Superintendent on Twitter: @BCS_Supt
